QV Sixth Grader to Join Western PA Spelling Bee
A sixth grade Quaker Valley Middle School student recently won the Scripps National Spelling Bee School-Wide Championship at the middle school.
Trent Kozar will represent the school at the 63rd annual Western Pennsylvania Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 23, at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Trent won the school-wide competition in the 10th round by correctly spelling “apotheosis.”
Tied for second place were sixth grader Katie Kelly and seventh grader Franzi Nace. Thirty-two middle school students competed in the school-level spelling bee.
The winner of the Western Pennsylvania Spelling Bee will compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee from May 26 through June 1, 2013, in Washington, D.C.
