Bell Acres Family to Host Fundraiser for Raja
Michelle and Alan Veeck will host a fundraiser Thursday evening for D. Raja, a Republican running for County Executive of Allegheny County.
His next stop will be at the home of Michelle and Alan Veeck in Bell Acres from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday. The Veecks are involved in local politics and also have supported Sewickley resident Keith Rothfus, who ran for Congress in 2010.
"This is a great opportunity for community members to get to meet Raja in a small setting and learn what he's all about," said Michelle Veeck.
Veeck said that the suggested donation for the event is $150, but said no one should feel obligated to donate.
"Raja is committed to creating jobs, modernizing technology and lowering taxes, all of which downplay big government," Veeck said.
Raja co-founded a technology company in Allegheny County, so he knows what it's like to run a business, she added.
He is dedicated to both economic growth and modernizing the region, Veeck said. One of his ideas is to create a mass transit system, which he feels is long overdue in this area.
"Raja is Indian and came to the United States to do something great and he did," said Veeck. "So you can see that he understands the American dream."
If you're interested in learning more about Raja, visit his website or stop by Michelle and Alan Veeck's home at 129 Backbone Road from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday to meet him in person.
