Patch takes a look ahead at local events this weekend.

 

It’s Friday, and you have no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

Don't fear. Sewickley Patch is here with a list of ideas to make your weekend a memorable one. Check out our 10 ideas to explore, and tell us about yours.

 

Light and Space Art Exhibition

When/Where: 6 p.m. tonight at International Images in Sewickley

Why Go: Light and Space: An Exploration of Metaphysics and Minimalism, featuring artwork by Pittsburgh artist Rex Chronister. 

Admission: Free. 

 

Spring Story Walk

When/Where: 10 a.m. Saturday at Edgeworth Elementary

Why Go: This event will take children from ages 3 to 8 on a prehistoric look back in time. 

Admission: Free.

 

Sahaja Meditation 

When/Where: 11 a.m. Saturday at the Sewickley Public Library. 

Why Go: Sahaja Meditation is a method of "releasing energy," according to event organizers. No registration is needed, but call  412-916-1199 for information. 

Admission: Free.

 

First Fridays

When/Where: 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. today at the Walter Robinson American Legion in Sewickley. 

Why Go: Help support the legion with music and dance on the first Friday of the month. Free food from 10 p.m to 11 p.m. and guest dee-jay spinning.  

Admission: $10 cover.

 

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

When/Where: 7 p.m. tonight or Saturday in Rea Auditorium at Sewickley Academy

Why Go: This musical comedy, based on the 1988 film, will keep the audience laughing.

31st Annual Pittsburgh Home and Garden Show

When/Where: 10 a.m. today through Sunday at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center

Why Go: More than 10,000 household items will be displayed at the convention center during the 10-day event. Speciality food and pet products are also available. 

Admission: $10.

 

Book Signing with Arianna Nichola Carley

When/Where: 1 p.m to 3 p.m. Saturday at Crazy Mocha in Sewickley. 

Why Go: The 17-year-old Sewickley Academy student published "Strega Unleashed," a book about a young girl who has magical talents. Come to buy a copy and meet Arianna. 
 

Admission: Free

 

Chicken and Waffles

When/Where: 1 p.m. Sunday at the Walter Robinson American Legion in Sewickley. 

Why Go: Join the Ladies Auxiliary for a brunch of chicken and waffles and support the legion.

Admission: $6 per plate or $3.50 for chicken only. Call 412-741-9928 for more information.
