When/Where: today and Saturday in the Division Street parking lot behind Sharp Edge.
Why Go: Get your fill of German beers, music, food and more. This inaugural event goes to support Village Green Partners.
Admission: $5 adults; $2 for children 12 and under.
When/Where: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5 and Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Big Sewickley Creek fire hall, 1850 Big Sewickley Creek Road, Bell Acres.
Why Go: Support the Big Sewickley Creek Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to the rummage sale, refreshments will be sold. Don't miss the discounted fill-a-bag sale from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
When/Where: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Watson Institute, Leet Township.
Why Go: This community interactive event sponsored by the Fair Oaks Fire Department gives kids and adults an up close at more than 30 vehicles. Rain or Shine!
Admission: $5 per person. Kids 2 and under free. $1 to ride the fire truck.
When/Where: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 in Rea Auditorium at Sewickley Academy.
Why Go: Celebrate 175 years of the Academy with a concert featuring alumni and student performances. The concert features the inaugural performance of Sweetwater Anthem, an original composition by Music Teacher Vanessa Candreva, written in honor of the 175th anniversary and performed by alumni, students and faculty.
Admission: Free and open to the public. A reception with refreshments will take place after the concert.
When/Where: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Sweetwater Center for the Arts.
Why Go: Elizabeth Asche Douglas, retired professor of Fine Arts & Humanities, and exhibit curator, will give a lecture on the work of the pioneering African-American women who inspired the work of the exhibiting artists.
Admission: Free. Refreshments, wine and light hors d'oeuvres will be served.
When/Where: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Bruegger's Bagel Bakery in Sewickley
Why Go: Saturdays through April 21, if you bring a coupon off the library's website or from the back of the library's newsletter 15 percent of your total purchase will go to make the library a better place.
Admission: Free, cost depends on menu choices.
