Get Out: Spooky Stories, Movies and Festivals

We have some great ideas for your weekend.

 

It’s Friday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

Sewickley Patch is coming to the rescue. Check out our ideas to explore, and tell us about yours.

 

1. One For the Money

When/Where: 2-4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17 at the Sewickley Public Library.  

Why Go: If you haven't seen the locally filmed Katherine Heigl comedy, based on the best-selling novel from Janet Evanovich, here's your chance. No registration is necessary. 

Admission: Free


2. Spooky Sewickley

When/Where: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17 in the parking lot at the Sewickley Public Library

Why Go: Bring blankets or lawn chairs to this campfire event and enjoy spooky stories, S'mores and a campfire provided by Party Ants. No cars will be permitted in the parking lot during the program. Ideal for grades 6-12.

3. The Smurfs

When/Where: 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17 at Blueberry Hill Park, Franklin Park.

Why Go: Bring a lawn chair or blanket to Blueberry Hill Park and enjoy this PG-rated movie. Movies start at dusk and refreshments will be sold. 

Admission: Free.

 

4. Third Annual Dog Day Festival

When/Where: 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19 at Hartwood Acres Park Amphitheater.

Why Go: Enjoy demonstrations, activities, contests and pet adoptions. Benefits the Animal Rescue League

Admission: Free.

 

5. Hometown Music Festival

When/Where: 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19 at Hartwood Acres Park Amphitheater.

Why Go: Performances by New ShoutsJoy IkeThe Patti Spadaro Band and Food. The show immediately follows the Dog Day Fest.

Admission: Free.
