Giant Eagle Slashing Prices on 3,000 Items
Some of the reductions went into effect on Wednesday.
Giant Eagle said Wednesday its delivering more than $70 million in annual customer savings by lowering prices on more than 3,000 grocery items about 15 percent, according to WPXI.
The majority of lower everyday prices went in effect Wednesday, with the remaining reductions taking place by April 11.
The lowered everyday prices are on a variety of national and Giant Eagle brand dairy, frozen food and processed meat products, as well as grocery items such as cereal, yogurt, condiments, pastas, boxed dinners, canned vegetables, and paper and laundry products. Some of the items include Cheerios, Hellmann’s Mayonnaise, Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, Cool Whip, and more, according to KDKA.
Giant Eagle customers can identify the savings with yellow “New Lower Price” tags located throughout the store.
The new price cuts will not replace other established offers, such as double coupons up to 99 cents or gas discounts, according to the Post-Gazette.
Giant Eagle is also strengthening its hunger relief efforts throughout the communities it serves by donating an additional 500,000 meals to regional food banks.
The nearest Giant Eagle store is located in the Quaker Village shopping center in Leetsdale and Market District in nearby Robinson or Pine.

It's too bad that Giant Eagle didn't announce a price reduction for the things we need to be choosing most: Fresh fruits and vegetables. As long as healthier selections are more expensive, we will remain the #17th healthiest country in the world, despite being the #1 top spender on health care.
