Samaritan Golf Outing to Benefit Counseling Services

Samaritan Counseling Center's "In Full Swing" charity golf outing and dinner gala is Sept. 24. The deadline to register is today!

Golf enthusiasts will gather on Sept. 24 at the Treesdale Golf and Country Club in Gibsonia to help raise money for a good cause.

Proceeds from the "In Full Swing" charity golf outing and dinner gala will benefit the Sewickley-based which expects to serve 2,300 men, women and children by the end of the year.

Beth Healey, director of development and marketing, said the need for counseling is dramatically increasing with about one-third of clients lacking health insurance coverage and adequate income. For 30 years, the doors have always been open to clients, regardless of their ability to pay.

"Therefore, we raise money to support our Client Aid Fund. Our golf outing is one way that we do that," Healey said.

The golf outing starts off with registration at 10 a.m., followed by giveaways and lunch and then shotgun scramble. The dinner gala begins at 5 p.m. and includes honorary chairman and special keynote speaker Franco Harris, the Hall of Fame former Pittsburgh Steelers running back.

The cost to participate in the golf outing is $250 per person for golfers. This includes golf reservations for 18 holes, professional scoring services, contents, golf cart, locker room and bag drop service, not to mention lunch, beverages and the dinner gala. The cost is $100 for the dinner gala only, but seating is limited.
