Leetsdale Man Waives Edgeworth, Leetsdale Vandalism Charges
Police say Brandin Diewald targeted properties in Leetsdale and Edgeworth with a BB gun.
A Leetsdale man will stand trial on numerous charges accused being involved in a vandalism spree that spanned several local communities.
Brandin Diewald, 20, of Broad Street, appeared in Leetsdale District Court Tuesday to wiave charges that include eight counts of criminal mischief, and two counts each of possessing instruments of a crime and illegally carrying or discharging air rifles. He is also charged with one count of recklessly endangering another person.
Edgeworth police and Leetsdale police received multiple reports of vandalism overnight Aug. 6, including a home in Edgeworth, where police said the front glass storm door was shot out at a Maple Lane house while the resident was home.
A Volvo S90 on Meadow Lane in Edgeworth and a Mercedes SUV on Chestnut Road both had windows shot out with a BB gun, as did a Chevy Avalanche on Hazel Lane, Edgeworth police said.
Leetsdale police had similar incidents on Washington Street where a BB gun was used to shoot out the windows of two Ford F-150s, a Hyundai Elantra and a Chevy work truck belonging to Snyder of Berlin. Police said the work truck was rummaged through and two of the vehicles were egged.
During an interview, Edgeworth police said Diewald confessed to being involved in the vandalism. A formal arraignment is scheduled for Dec. 11.
