As you prepare for a long weekend of parades, gardening, swimming and grilling with friends, here is a list of what's closed across the area this Memorial Day weekend and the events to honor and remember this country's heroes.

• All local municipal offices will be closed Monday, along with federal and state offices. 
• There will be no school for Quaker Valley and Sewickley Academystudents
• Sewickley Public Library will be closed for the holiday
• The U.S. Post Office will not be delivering or collecting mail
• Banks and credit unions will be closed
• The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's drivers license and photo centers will be closed Saturday and Monday in observance of Memorial Day
• State liquor stores will be closed.

• Some Port Authority of Allegheny County bus routes will be detoured over the holiday weekend due to parades and other community events. Bus, T and incline service will operate on holiday schedules Monday. Riders with questions should go to www.portauthority.org or call customer service during holiday hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 412-442-2000.
