New Fast Food Restaurant Coming to Sewickley
Sewickley residents and business owners have speculated about plans for the former Quizno's restaurant.
A major fast-food restaurant is slated to open in March at the former Quizno's space in Sewickley.
The borough code enforcement office and the Subway website both confirm plans for a new Subway restaurant opening soon at 537 Beaver St. between the Verizon store and Craig Allen Salon.
A building permit was issued last month for interior renovations at the property owned by Clifford Krey, who could not be reached for comment.
Subway, a franchise chain, has more than 38,800 restaurants worldwide and is known for its "eat fresh" motto, Fresh Fit menu and $5 footlongs.
Other nearby Subway locations include the Quaker Village Plaza store in Leetsdale and on University Boulevard in Moon Township.

We don't need more processed fast food and low paying jobs. I'm not excited.

There is a need, however, for quick, affordable, somewhat-approaching-healthy restaurant food in the Village, and Subway fits the bill quite nicely. As with most franchise-based operations, the quality of the franchisee reflects greatly on the quality of the brand. If the same franchisee as the Quaker Village outlet will be operating the new Sewickley Subway (catchy!), then it will be a good addition.
