For the most part, PennDOT is taking the Labor Day weekend off, which is good news for Sewickley-area drivers headed toward downtown Pittsburgh.
The HOV lanes on the Parkway North are open to all outbound traffic this weekend after 7 p.m. on Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. In addition, the-two-passenger-per vehicle rule does not apply during weekend hours.
And unlike most summer weekend, there will be no restrictions for:
- The Squirrel Hill Tunnel
- Grant Street Tunnel of the Parkway East
- Banksville Road (after 6 a.m. Saturday)
- Crosstown Boulevard/Veterans Bridge. (The long-term closure of the ramp from Crosstown Boulevard to the Boulevard of the Allies will remain in place.)
Thanks. We'll email you the next time we update this story.
