Quaker Valley School District and Sewickley Academy issued a two-hour delay for classes on Tuesday because of the forecasted snowy weather and extreme cold temperatures.

"Due to expected extreme temperatures and wind-chill readings, all schools in the Quaker Valley School District will operate on a two-hour delay," the district announced.

The Osborne Elementary HSA meeting that was scheduled for Tuesday morning has been postponed. The district plans to share information with Osborne parents as soon as it is rescheduled.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory that remains in effect from 10 p.m. tonight to 11 a.m. Wednesday for the Sewickley Valley.

With the chill, temperatures are expected to dip 10 to 20 degrees below 0 Monday night and Tuesday morning.

The temperature will briefly increase to 0 to 10 degrees below 0 Tuesday evening before falling back toward 10 to 20 below Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

A wind chill advisory means that very cold air and strong wind could result in frost bite and hypothermia if precautions are not taken. Be sure to dress properly!
