Quaker Valley School Board Receives Distinguished Award
The D. Richard Wynn Award recognizes the board’s accomplishments.
The Quaker Valley School Board is being recognized for years of hard work and innovation.
The board has been named the recipient of the D. Richard Wynn Distinguished School Board Award from the Tri-State Area School Study Council at the University of Pittsburgh.
Superintendent Joseph Clapper announced the award at Tuesday's legislative meeting.
"We have a board that's always focused on good quality education, while focused on fiscal responsibility," Clapper said, calling it a delicate balancing act.
Clapper said board members will be honored March 24 at the 65th School Board and Distinguished Educator Banquet in Penn Hills.
The D. Richard Wynn Award, initiated during the 1988-89 school year, recognizes the board’s accomplishments during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 school years, according to the district.
Diane Kirk, tri-state council director, said: “The hard work, innovative ideas, and dedication of the Quaker Valley School District over the years have put your school board in the highest tier of educational administration and we are honored to recognized your board in this way.”
Board members are Jack Norris, president; Sarah Heres, vice president; Mark Rodgers, treasurer; Danielle Burnette; Gianni Floro; Debbie Miller; David Pusateri; Robert Riker; and Dr. Kausalai Wijekumar.
