Quaker Valley Public Budget Committee Shaping Up

Local taxpayers are invited to serve. The committee will meet beginning in March.

More than 20 area residents have volunteered to serve on the Quaker Valley School District public budget committee.

In its first year, the committee will begin meeting early next month to review revenue projections and expenses for the 2013-14 school year. The committee will also have discussions on everything from reassessments to the district budget and proposed millage rate.

Tina Vojtko, district spokeswoman, said the budget committee is a great way to engage the community about school finance and provide background information most people aren't familiar with.

The committee will meet three times at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, March 5, April 2 and May 7 at Edgeworth Elementary School. Administrators will be available to answer questions.

There is no limit on membership, though participants are asked to sign up in advance so the district knows how many to expect and can better prepare.

Anyone interested in serving on the committee can click here to complete the online form or contact Tina Vojtko at 412-749-3623 or vojtkot@qvsd.org.
