QVSD Students to Raise Spirits with Holiday Performances

Performances include the choir at the county courthouse at 11 a.m. Tuesday and the QVMS production of "Thoroughly Modern Millie, Jr."

Continuing a tradition started many years ago, the Quaker Valley High School concert choir plans to kick off the holiday season at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29 in the Allegheny County Courthouse, Pittsburgh.

For those who work in the city and have never attended the noontime holiday concert series, it is an event not to be missed.

The acoustics enhance the sound of choral music as it resounds throughout the building.

Quaker Valley will continue the festivities Friday Dec. 2, at Sewickley’s Light-Up Night, which features QV music. Santa will arrive on Saturday, Dec. 3 during the holiday parade featuring the QVHS marching band.

The QVMS Drama Club will perform “Thoroughly Modern Millie, Jr." on Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

The vocal ensemble will be performing at 1 p.m. on Dec. 12 at the Edgeworth Club at the invitation of the Sewickley Women’s Club.

The community is invited to attend the holiday concerts and performances scheduled in December.

There is no charge for admission to performances except for the middle school musical. Tickets for the musical are $6 for senior citizens and students and $8 for adults.

Concert attendees are encouraged to bring a canned/nonperishable food item to support the local food bank and families in need.
