YMCA to Honor Retired Sewickley Police Chief with Dedication
The YMCA's Community Activity Center will be named for retired Sewickley Police Chief Walter Brannon.
Today, the YMCA will recognize Brannon with the dedication of its community activity center that will be named in his honor.
Brannon of Sewickley, a World War II veteran, served as the borough's police chief from 1976 to 1992.
Sewickley Police Chief James Ersher said Brannon's legacy in the community is extensive, from his more than 40 years of service with the police department to the numerous boards and committees he's served on.
"I think it's great he's being recognized," Ersher said. "Walter J is really a class act."
