Route 65 Improvements to Begin Monday Night from Sewickley to Ambridge

Overnight restrictions are planned through early October.

On Monday night, PennDOT crews will begin working in the area to improve drainage and mill and resurface Route 65 in Sewickley.

The work is expected to last through early October.

Jim Struzzi, PennDOT spokesman, said the work is planned from Chestnut Street in Sewickley, near the bridge, to Ambridge on Route 65, also known as Ohio River Boulevard.

To minimize impacts on motorists, Struzzi said lane closures and single-lane traffic will occur from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday nights through early October.

Traffic is being detoured to the Sewickley Bridge as PennDOT embarks on a $16.6 million repair project to the nearby Ambridge-Aliquippa Bridge, which has been closed since March. The bridge is expected to reopen in mid-November, while that overall project will conclude in late 2013.

Stay tuned to Patch for updates on the projects.
