Sewickley Artist to Present 'Passion to Fashion' Pop Up Exhibit
The two-day pop up art show runs Saturday and Sunday in Sewickley.
Sewickley artist Cindy Engler will host a two-day exhibit this weekend showcasing her artwork, including some surprise works of art.
"There are many new and unseen pieces of work included in the show," she said.
For the past decade, Engler has combined art and fashion in new ways by creating oil paintings in a style that is truly her own. Engler studied Fashion Illustration at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Her love of style and expression led to a career as a fashion and photographic model at a young age.
Engler said she uses various techniques of layering and scratching through paint to form texture and add dimension to her work.
Most recently she completed a series of oil paintings that depict "high spirited, sensual women with an undeniable sense of style," she said.
In addition to oil painting, Engler works with shattered safety glass to build three-dimensional mosaics and encaustic paint to produce multi-layered sculptures incorporating animal skulls and horns.
The pop-up exhibition is 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 and Sunday, Nov. 11 at 429 Broad St., the former site of Travel Wares. Visit cindyengler.com for more information.
