Snowy Forecast for the Sewickley Valley

The National Weather Service forecasts snow accumulations up to 1 inch today.

The National Weather Service in Moon Township was calling for 1 to 2 inches of overnight snow accumulations with more expected to fall throughout today.

Brad Rehak, meteorologist, said Sewickley area residents should expect additional snow showers today. Rehak said snow accumulations should be about an inch with periods of light and heavy snow showers.

“Kind of off and on, most of the time,” Rehak said.

The cold isn’t expected to go away anytime soon. Rehak said temperatures should reach 22 degrees today.

Cold and snow showers are likely to continue through the weekend, with forecasters calling for more snow showers Saturday and Sunday with high temperatures around 20 degrees.

The National Weather Service warns motorists and pedestrians to be extra cautious since this amount of snow can cause slippery spots on untreated surfaces.
