Trio Accused in Sewickley Hills Jewelry Theft Heads to Court
The three charged with felony counts are scheduled to appear in district court.
Three people accused of stealing jewelry from a Sewickley Hills residence are scheduled to appear today in court on felony charges.
Ohio Township police have charged Christopher Hatton, 18, of Pittsburgh, Justin Lively, 18, of Center Township, 21, of Freedom, and Amanda Salamone, with felony counts of receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy. Lively is also charged with felony theft.
Police said a Sewickley Hills resident called July 9 to report four pieces of her jewelry missing. Police said the jewelry was taken during the time frame that several people had come to the home to visit the victim’s son.
Police said Hatton, Lively and Salamone were caught on surveillance video attempting to sell a ring July 10 at Barkan Buy Jewelers in Beaver Falls.
Police said the proprietor at the store knew the ring, appraised at $3,370, was stolen and told the group he was confiscating the jewelry. When he asked for their identification, police said the three fled from the store.
Police tracked down Salamone who admitted being with Hatton and Lively at a party in Sewickley Hills when Lively took the jewelry, police said.
Salamone told police she sold some items in Boardman, OH, to Ace Diamond and Jewelry Brokers because Lively told her he lost his identification.
Police traveled to the Boardman store and used department funds to pay $130 for the stolen necklace and earrings, worth about $700. Police said the victim is still missing a butterfly charm and earrings, and had to pay an undetermined amount on jewelry repairs.
Preliminary hearings are scheduled today before District Judge Robert Ford.
