Visions for Vacancies: Quaker Village Beer Distributor
Our series asks readers for ideas, thoughts and opinions on what should fill vacant storefronts in the Sewickley Patch.
The Quaker Village Beer Distributor in Leetsdale closed in January 2011 and has been empty ever since.
Customers who frequented the beer distributor, near the state Wine & Spirits store, said they were sorry to see it go. Borough officials remembered the store as one of the original stores in the Quaker Village Shopping Center dating back to the 1960s.
The distributor is located in the middle of the plaza, near the post office. One of the positive's of the distributor is its accessibility from Route 65 and Beaver Street. Located in the middle of the plaza, the space is also in close proximity to salons, shops, restaurants, gasoline and, of course, the renovated Giant Eagle supermarket and pharmacy.
So tell us Patch readers. What do you envision in this location? Are you dying to see a specialty clothing store? An electronics shop? How about an art or music center for children?
Let Patch know! Share your vision for the former beer distributor in the Quaker Village Shopping Center.

I would love a Panera to open up in the old Hallmark location. I hear a Dollar General may go there instead? Not really excited about that, but it beats a vacant store front. The beer distributor store would make a great gluten free bakery/allergy free bakery! Just an idea.

All good ideas. I think a gluten free bakery would go over really well, and having a Panera that's closer than Ross, Cranberry or Robinson, would be convenient for those of us always looking for wi fi spots.

I was also thinking a Panera type restaurant. Or maybe a sit down pizza place for families would be nice.

I like the sit down pizza place idea.
