Q: I never seem to have time for myself anymore- my schedule is so hectic. What can I do?
A: You are not alone. We live in a culture where we tend to over-schedule ourselves. You may be a busy mom/dad, work too many hours, take care of a loved one or do all three. No matter what the scenario, I suggest making an appointment with yourself. Treat your 'alone time' like any other appointment. Weather it's a yoga class, read a book, a cup of coffee with a friend, shopping or working on a project- schedule it on your calendar. If it's on your calendar, you will be more likely to keep the appointment with yourself.
A quick word on guilt. For those of you who may feel a pang of guilt when making time for yourself. Don't let it in!!! The rewards of an appointment with yourself are that you will do what you always do, only better. How can you say "no" to a better you?
