Disgraced ex-Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky was found guilty on 45 counts of child sex abuse Friday night, likely resulting in a life sentence for the 68-year-old. The guilty verdicts include 25 felony counts. Combined, Sandusky could be sentenced to 442 years in prison. The Centre Daily Times, WPXI, The Associated Press, The Huffington Post and numerous other local and national news organizations reported the news within minutes of the verdict's release. One of the most high-profile trials of the year began Monday and Patch wants to know if you think former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky will be treated fairly. Prosecutors claim that Sandusky groomed boys he met through The Second Mile, the charity he founded for at-risk youth in 1977, then abused them, in some cases in his own home or inside university athletic facilities. Gov. Tom Corbett wants to give Shell Oil tax credits worth $1.65 billion over 25 years so the company will build a refinery in Monaca to capitalize on the Marcellus Shale natural gas boom, according to Businessweek. Corbett says the deal could help reinvigorate manufacturing in Pennsylvania and create jobs. Critics say Shell would probably bring its business to the state without the tax incentives. The New York Times is reporting that Penn State football coach Joe Paterno is leaving "within days or weeks" after a sex scandal involving former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky has rocked the campus and the nation. Sandusky is charged with sexually assaulting multiple young boys over the span of more than a decade. Penn State's board of trustees is said to be planning Paterno's exit. The legendary coach reported one incident to PSU officials. No one in the administration reported any known incidents to the police. We ask you, Patch readers, what should Paterno do?
