Take a Gallery Walk in Sewickley Friday and Saturday

Lots of venues are scheduled to take part in the 2013 Sewickley Fall Gallery Walk.

The 2013 Sewickley Fall Gallery Walk runs from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14.

Many galleries and shops will have art on display, including the following:

Sewickley Arts Initiative, 424 Broad St. (formerly Party Ants)
Presenting recent works by Jay A. Grassel, one of Pittsburgh’s young emerging artists. This exhibition concentrates on the contemporary painting of a new talent, who also works in sculpture and photography. Distinct groups of paintings are featured, that overlap in chronology and which demonstrate the breadth and originality of his explorations as an emerging artist. The exhibit will remain open for viewing from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 18 through Saturday, Sept. 21.

Sweetwater Center for the Arts, 200 Broad St.

An opening reception for the Oasis exhibition with MAVUNO - Artist in Residence, Leslie Ansley is from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. The free reception coincides with the Sewickley Fall Gallery Walk. Complimentary wine, refreshments and light hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Sewickley Gallery & Frame Shop, 549 Beaver St.

The Sewickley Gallery & Frame Shop presents "Recent Works 2013" by Mark Mentzer. The works are inspired by everyday objects and shapes and Mentzer's travels through Pittsburgh and the world.

Sewickley Public Library, 500 Thorn St.

An exhibit of dog portraits from Seth Casteel's book Underwater Dogs and Valerie Shaff's book "If You Only Knew How Much I Smell You." 

Sewickley Studio, second floor, 507 Beaver St.

Sewickley Studio will host its grand opening on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. in conjunction with the Sewickley Gallery Walk. Wine and light refreshments will be served.

International Images Ltd., 514 Beaver St.

International Images is proud to welcome new artist Christian Wolfgang Breitkreutz to the gallery, featuring his most recent exhibition in "I GREW OUT OF A FLOWER, SHED MY SKIN, TURNED MYSELF INTO A SKELETON."

Cuttings, 524 Locust Place

View creations by Linda Breen and watercolors by Kit Paulsen as Cuttings celebrates its 20th anniversary. A street party begins at 5 p.m. outside the store with live music, hors d'oeuvres, drinks, and a silent auction.

HABITAT Hardware, 519 Locust Place

Paintings by Sewickley artist Claire Hardy.

Clearview Federal Credit Union, 510 Beaver St.

Hand-drawn animation artwork by Mike Schwab, co-founder of Kensington Falls Animation Art Work. Schwab has created animation for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Penguins, TV commercials and corporations.

D. ZIGNZ Studio Pop-Up Gallery, 613 Beaver St.

Artwork and jewelry by D. Zoe Shutka's private students ages 4 to adult, and assistant teachers. Shutka, a traveling art teacher, presents artistically restored furniture and jewelry. 

Sewickley Confectionery, 600 Beaver St.

Featuring spoon art by John Whiteside and photos by John Doucette.

Vita Hair for Life, 421 Walnut St.

Artist Deborah McLaren will be showcasing her eclectic artwork on Friday, Sept. 13 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. as part of the Sewickley Gallery Walk. Stop by for wine, art and conversation.
