Ron Paul Draws the Masses

While the media tries to downplay his appeal, Ron Paul continues to draw thousands to his rallies.

In my other blog posts that chronicle Ron Paul's presidential campaign, I have said that the mainstream media doesn't always accurately portray his candidacy, nor do they show (or want to admit for that matter) that people are truly excited about his message of liberty.

Despite the fact that Paul hasn't yet won the popular vote in a primary or caucus, masses of people are showing up everywhere he goes to see the defender of the Constitution in the flesh and hear him speak.

On Monday, Michigan State University hosted a rally for Dr. Paul and drew an overflowing crowd in a 3,700-seat auditorium, meaning there were about 4,000 people total. When he walked onstage, he received an incredibly enthusiastic 40-second standing ovation. If you don't believe me, watch this video.

This crowd was by far one of the largest, if not the largest, that any of the presidential candidates have had at any rally. As always, though, the mainstream media desperately attempted to downplay the event, claming that Ron Paul had only 2,000 supporters, while also emphasizing that he drew few supporters at an event on Saturday.

At another rally in Hudsonville, MI on Sunday, more than 2,000 people attended, even after having to wait in the 30 degree weather to pile into the venue.

Ron Paul's followers are so devoted that they'll get out for an event that he won't be part of. Veterans for Ron Paul staged a rally last Tuesday outside of the White House.

Along with 500 veterans and active military troops, there were about 1,000 spectators at the rally, who looked on as veterans stood at attention in silence, honoring soldiers who will die in war or who have committed suicide.

An ABC News article claimed that there were "dozens" of veterans present at the rally and later changed the number to "several hundred" and apologized for incorrectly listing the number of attendees at the event. The article also included no video footage or pictures of the rally, which would clearly demonstrate the masses of people that were there.

I, for one, am not fooled. I believe what I see and what I see are a lot of people who care about their personal liberties and want to see the Constitution prevail. Freedom is popular and it's no surprise that people are catching on to Ron Paul's message.
