Dinosaur Fossils found at Ross Park Mall

What’s over 140 million years old and can be found right outside of Foot Locker? Evidence of one of the oldest forms of animal life on Earth, that’s what. No need to go digging in the dirt. Just look down at the floors of Ross Park Mall!

As it turns out, the Mall houses not only the latest fashion staples but also hundreds of fossils. The floors of Ross Park Mall are made from Solnhofen limestone, an ancient stone with fossils entombed from the Jurassic age. So next time you’re visiting the Mall, stop by Simon Guest Services and put your kids’ paleontology skills to the test.

Pick up a JuROSSic Park Mall worksheet from Simon Guest Services and then hunt for examples of six different types of fossils – ammonite, belemnite, trace fossil, sponge, algae, and worm. Snap a picture of each fossil as you find it during your exploration. Once you’ve collected all six, return to Simon Guest Services to claim your prize - half off one child's admission to Carnegie Museum of Natural History and a prehistoric prize (while supplies last) from Ross Park Mall!
