NPFWPA Moving Day

Moving Day® is a collaborative effort of the National Parkinson Foundation (NPF) and the National Parkinson Foundation Western Pennsylvania Chapter (NPFWPA). This exciting, family-friendly event and celebration of movement brings the local community together to join the nationwide fight against Parkinson’s disease (PD). It is a day to move, a day to move others, and a day that moves YOU.

This fun-filled celebration also features a variety of entertainment that the whole family will enjoy. Activities include face painting, balloon art from Mike the Balloon Guy, and demonstrations from local magicians. Music will include sets from local talents Joe Birch and classic rock cover band Time Tested. There will also be special appearances by Shane Treloar – the Boy with the Golden Voice, KDKA-TV kids reporters and The Pirate Parrot, as well as Pittsburgh Riverhounds players and their team mascot Ammo.

Join us for Moving Day and help to make the 2013 celebration the best one yet! Registration opens at 8:30 AM and the walk kicks off at 10 AM. Event attendees will have the option to walk a gentle 1.5 or 2 mile course along the River Walk and then celebrate their efforts at the Stadium afterwards. A special Movement Pavilion will be open throughout the event as well and offer activities like stretching, yoga, chair-based exercises, and much more.

Proceeds from the annual Moving Day celebration help NPFWPA to provide services, support, and education for the estimated 10,000 people living with PD in western Pennsylvania as well as support medical research to discover the cause and cure for PD.
