QV 10 and Under Fastpitch Wins Moon Tournament

After a week-long delay because of the weather, Quaker Valley’s 10 and under fastpitch team successfully defended their title and won the Moon Area fastpitch tournament for the second year in a row.

Sponsored by Advanced Construction Services, the team waited in the winners bracket for a week to see who they would play in the championship, which got  underway on Friday, July 5.

After losing to Hopewell in the first game, the ACS team was able to come back in a nail-biting, extra-inning game on Saturday, July 6 to capture the 10U title.

Down three experienced players, the team competed in the final game of the tournament with eight girls and as the visiting team won 19-18 in extra innings. They came back from deficits of 13-7, 14-9, and 16-15. To add to the excitement, in the bottom of the final inning with a Hopewell runner on third base, QV pitcher Jeana McCracken came through with a big strikeout.

In his first season as head coach, Joe Pieri commented, "It was such a great experience for everyone!"

Congratulations ladies and thanks to all of the coaches and parents for their support throughout the season.
