Serenity Sunday Wellness Classes

Pittsburgh Psychotherapy Associates is pleased to announce the addition of health and wellness courses to energize the body and nourish the mind. Serenity Sundays Wellness Program begins June 30, 2013. Classes are subject to cancellation based on enrollment minimum. Location: Arcadia Center, 9401 McKnight Road (Lower Level), Pittsburgh, PA 15237.

Relaxation for Stress Reduction
Instructors: Don Laird and Christina Pettinato

Fee: $10/class (package discounts available)
This program teaches participants how to use their innate resources and abilities to respond more effectively to stress, pain and illness. The program includes guided instruction in mindfulness meditation practices, group dialogue and weekly journal assignments. Research indicates that mindfulness practices can be highly effective in a wide variety of ways including lasting decreases in physical and psychological symptoms, greater energy and enthusiasm for life, and improved self-esteem. Gentle Yoga
Instructor: Yumiko Yasumoto

Fee: $10/class (package discounts available)
Gentle yoga is open to all levels, including beginners. The class incorporates a variety of body/mind modalities with the goal of encouraging body awareness and body confidence. Students are guided to move through yoga sequences with a sense of flow and ease. The class will stretch you out from head to toe and leave you feeling centered and relaxed.

Tai Chi (for Beginners/Intermediate)

Learn to remove some of the physical and mental tensions we experience in our daily lives with this beginner/intermediate level Tai Chi class. Tai Chi is meditation in motion, the practice of moving tension-less and calm. Class participants will be  introduced to an easy-to-learn, introductory set of Tai Chi hand techniques, stances and footwork.

Please Note: T’ai Chi is a standing and constantly moving exercise, albeit very slow moving, that incorporates entirely unique postures. All registrants should check with their Primary Care Physician before starting  this or any new exercise regimen. Wear comfortable clothing and a pair heavy socks. Register Online
