Sewickley Area Churches Plan Holy Week Services

Several local churches have services planned throughout the week.

Holy Wednesday, April 4

, 616 Washington St., will hold services at 7 p.m., Corporate Confessions.

Maundy Thursday, April 5

, 337 Broad St., services begin at 7 p.m. and include Holy Communion and stations of the cross in the sanctuary.

, 414 Grant St., services take place at noon in the chapel and at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.

, 200 Walnut St. will hold The Lord’s Supper (washing of feet) at 7 p.m. The church will be open until midnight.

St. Paul’s  services begin at 7 p.m. Holy Communion and Stripping of the Altar.

Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 194 Ambridge Ave., Leet, will gather to commemorate Jesus' death at 7:30 p.m.

Good Friday, April 6

The Presbyterian Church, Sewickley, will have a family service at 10 a.m. and a Tenebrae Service at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.

St. James will have Seven Last Words Cantata (Church) at noon and Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion at 1:30 p.m.

services begin at 6 p.m. at the church.

St. Paul’s will have Ecumenical Good Friday worship service at 11:30 a.m., then at 11:45 a.m. the procession of the cross to Sewickley United Methodist Church for the remainder of the service. If you do not want to participate in the carrying of the cross, you may come directly to Sewickley United Methodist Church, 337 Broad St., at noon for the service. Tenebrae Service begins at 8 p.m.

North Way Christian Community,1414 Beaver Road, services at 6 p.m. in Osborne Elementary School.

Holy Saturday, April 7

St. James will host the Blessing of the Easter Food Baskets at noon in the Gathering Space. Easter Vigil begins at 8:30 p.m. with Adult and Bell Choirs.

Easter Sunday, April 8

Sewickley United Methodist contemporary services begin at 9 a.m. and traditional service at 11 a.m. Sunday. Anyone is welcome.

St. Paul’s ecumenical Easter Sunrise Service begins at 6:30 a.m. at the Sewickley Cemetery Chapel. Sunrise Service begins at 7:30 a.m. at the church followed by Easter Worship at 11 a.m. All are welcome.

The Presbyterian Church, Sewickley, celebrates with a Easter Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m. on the front lawn, followed by an 8 a.m. service in the chapel and 11 a.m. worship services in the sanctuary.

St. James Catholic Church services will begin at 7:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

St. Matthews AME Zion Church will have Resurrection Sunday services beginning at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary.

North Way Christian Community services at 9 and 11 a.m. in .

Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Bible-based discourse"Is it Later Than You Think," begins at 9:30 a.m. All are welcome.
