Get Out: 7 Spooktacular Weekend Events to Celebrate Halloween
Parades, pumpkins and spooky tales. Here are some local Halloween-themed events to choose from this weekend.
This is the last weekend before Halloween. Here are our weekend picks to help get you into the spirit. As always, be sure to let us know about your plans.
1. Fifth Annual Pancake Breakfast
Find out what's happening in Sewickleywith free, real-time updates from Patch.
When/Where: 8:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Sewickley Academy.
Why Go: Faculty and students will be cooking and serving pancaks, sausage, juice and coffee. The family event supports local police and fire.

Price: $5
2. Sewickley Halloween Parade
When/Where: 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Parade begins at Sewickley Municipal Building, 601 Thorn St., and makes a loop around town.
Why Go: Sewickley's annual Halloween parade is a can't-miss event for families, especially ones with small children.
Price: Free.
3. Pumpkin Patch Extravaganza
When/Where: 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Sewickley Public Library Children's Section, following the parade.
Why Go: Join the library after the parade for the third annual Pumpkin Patch Extravaganza. Make art using real pumpkin inspired crafts.
Price: $2 materials fee per family.
4. Mary Roberts Rinehart Nature Park Fall Event
When/Where: 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Mary Roberts Rinehart Nature Park in Glen Osborne.
Why Go: Enjoy an afternoon of pumpkin painting, story-telling, s'mores, cider and a Sweetwater Center for the Arts activity. Sponsor of the event is Child Health Association of Sewickley.
Price: Free.
5. Great Pumpkin Spooktacular
When/Where: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Fern Hollow Nature Center, 1901 Glen Mitchell Road.
Why Go: Enjoy spooky stories and s’mores around the bonfire with Fern Hollow and the Sewickley Library. Bring your flashlight for a night hike to search for some nocturnal creepy crawlies. Then kick back and watch the classic film “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.” Please bring your own refreshments and blanket.
Price: $15 family/$25 non family.
6. Haunted House
When/Where: 7-9 p.m. today and Saturday, Oct. 27 at Sewickley United Methodist, 337 Broad St.
Why Go: This is the seventh year of scaring the Sewickley community since the Haunted House was resurrected in 2005. If you're brave enough, you will not want to miss it.
Admission: $7. Coupons available at the pumpkin patch.
7. Leetsdale Halloween Party
When/Where: 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28 at the Leetsdale Community Center, Broad Street.
Why Go: Enjoy crafts, food, entertainment and fun. New this year are face painting and animal balloons.
Admission: Free.
