Why Go: Learn more about salamandars, toads and frogs then get up close and personal with them. The group will then venture over to Sewickley Heights Borough Park for a night hike to a vernal pond to listen for frog calls and look for amphibian egg masses.

RMU softball hosts 'Beat Cancer with a Bat'
When/Where: 1 p.m. Saturday at the RMU North Athletic Complex.
Why Go: softball team will host a game benefiting the National Foundation for Cancer Research. "Beat Cancer with a Bat" takes place at 1 p.m. Saturday. The team will take on Bryant University and admissions will be donated to cancer research. Interested patrons can also make donations here.
