Get Out: Open Mic Night, Steelers Pep Rally or an Oscar-Winning Movie

It's Thursday and you’ve got no idea what to do this weekend.

There's no need to scramble for ideas. Sewickley Patch has got you covered. We’ve got the best bets for maximizing your fun while giving back a little and educating yourself.

Here are five things you can do in the area to make it a weekend to remember.

When/Where: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday,

Why Go: Spend the afternoon watching "Sergeant York," a film about a boy whose life and beliefs change after he is drafted into the military.

Admission: Free.

 

2. STUFFED ANIMAL SLEEPOVER

When/Where: Drop-off from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and pickup from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at .

Why Go: The children are always having sleepovers, so let their favorite stuffed animals have one, too. Drop off your furry friend at the library Friday and pick it up Saturday morning, when doughnuts and juice will be provided.

4. STEELERS PEP RALLY

When/Where: 11 a.m. Saturday, Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium 

Why Go: Join and  with 96.1 KISS FM’s Tall Cathy to get pumped up for the upcoming Steelers season, zoo-style. Some zoo animals will always be showing off their pride.

Admission: The rally is free with the price of admission to the zoo.

 

5. THE SCRIPT

When/Where: 7 p.m Sunday at Stage AE, North Shore.

Why Go:Check out the Irish band’s Science and Faith Tour, and sing along to hits such as "Breakeven" and "The Man Who Can’t Be Moved."

Admission: Tickets are $40.50 general admission, taxes and fees not included.
