Get Out: Plant A Tree, Meet American Girl or Zumba

When/Where: 11 a.m. Saturday at The Mall at Robinson

Why Go: The event is a partnership project between Pennsylvania Resources Council and the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute’s Center for Environmental Oncology. The workshop focuses on the consequences of toxins on our health and how we can avoid exposure. Learn how to make your own cleaning products and personal care products, what types of toxins to avoid in personal care products, and how and what to cook with to keep healthy.

2. ZUMBATHON AT SEWICKLEY ACADEMY

When/Where: Noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Alumni Gym,

Why Go: Sewickley Academy is hosting the Zumbathon to support the Kurt Cerny Memorial Fund for Students. The Zumbathon is open to the public (for ages 12 and up). Light refreshments will be provided, but be sure to bring water, a towel, and maybe a small snack. Clothing suitable for exercise should be worn, as well as comfortable tennis shoes.

Admission: Donations are welcome.

 

3. MEET AMERICAN GIRL KIT

When/Where: 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, 

Why Go: Enter into the world of the 1930's with Kit Kittredge, American Girl. The day will include a snack, craft, and learning about Kit. This event is for children in grades K-5. Feel free to bring a friend!

Admission: Free. Registration required.

 

4. CHILI WITH THE WORKS: SPRING ARTS & MUSIC FESTIVAL

When/Where: 2 p.m. Saturday, 27th Street at Southside Works, Southside.

Why Go: Dozens of local restaurants will compete in the chili cook-off, plus I Made It! Market will be there with more than 50 art vendors, a children’s area, sidewalk sale and live music featuring Miguel’s Mariachi Band on the Town Square Stage and The Delaney’s from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Admission: Free

When/Where: 7 p.m. Saturday, 1 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday, Moon Area High School Auditorium.

Why Go: Take the family out to see the beloved musical and support Moon’s Drama Club.

Admission: $10 for students and seniors, $12 for adults.

 

6. PLANT A TREE WITH SEWICKLEY ACADEMY STUDENTS

When/Where:  11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Nichols Field, off  Beaver Road.

Why Go: students are taking part in The American Chestnut Foundation's project to restore the American chestnut to its native forests. Go out and join the students hosting the community event and help transplant the chestnut seedlings in an outdoor orchard. Lunch will be provided.
