Leading up to the centennial, the local scouts tied green ribbons and trefoil to 100 trees marking the 100 years of Girl Scouting. Monday's ceremony included a color guard and the reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and the Girl Scout Promise. The girls also sang two songs, "Make New Friends" and "On My Honor."

In conjunction with the special year, the girls camp theme this year is a birthday party. Glen Oaks scouts also have been working on various service projects.
