Patch dug deep to find the best things to do with your family this weekend in spots around the corner and within reasonable striking distance.

Don't fret. We've assembled a calendar of child-friendly activities and new places to try out with the kids this week.

So get ready to design a T-shirt, celebrate the Chinese New Year, listen to live music, and more. Pick and choose your destinations from this week’s array of events.

Making Graffiti T-Shirts for Teens
Where/When: The Sewickley Public Library, 500 Thorn St., from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Why Go: The teen librarian is helping kids celebrate "White T-Shirt Day" by providing fabric spray paint, fabric markers and stencil-making materials for teens to make a unique shirt. Bring your own, or the library will have extras.
Pricing: Free


Where/When:  Sweetwater Center for the Arts, 200 Broad Street, Sewickley, 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
Why Go: Donna Bailey will be performing as part of the Clearview Sweet Jazz Series. She is know for her classic jazz, swing and blues performed with a sophisticated style.
Pricing:  Members: $8 advance/ $10 day of event. Non-members: $12 advance/$15 day of event.

Bon Jovi Live
Where/When: Consol Energy Center , 1230 Colwell St, Uptown Pittsburgh, at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Why Go:  Iconic band Bon Jovi brings its 2011 tour to Pittsburgh to rock the Consol Energy for two evenings.
Pricing:  Tickets start at $12.

Parents Night Out
Where/ When: Carnegie Science Center, Saturday, beginning at 5 p.m. through 10 p.m. (or 11 p.m. for $10 more.)
Why Go: Drop your child off for an evening of fun and exploration, then head off on your own. Children ages 6 to 12 will enjoy dinner, an Omnimax movie, a laser show and a science workshop. Parents enjoy a night on the town or just a relaxing evening at home.
Pricing: Members $35, Non-members $40.

Celebrate Chinese New Year!
Where/When: The Children's Museum in Pittsburgh, 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
Why Go: Learn a lesson about Asian culture with Silk Screen: Asian Arts and the Steel Dragon Lion Dance Team. Children will make culturally-themed art to take home and carry in the parade. At 2 p.m., kids can enjoy a live performance by the dance team and join a parade throughout the museum for the finale.
Pricing: Adults, $11; children 2 to 18, $10; under 2 free.
