Landslide Forces Closure of Magee Road

Posted detour follows Blackburn, Fern Hollow and Audubon roads.

Vehicles were still using Magee Road in Sewickley Hills following a report of a landslide Tuesday afternoon on one of the borough's main roads, but a drop in the road forced cars to slow down.

According to the Allegheny County Department of Public Works, a county-owned section of Magee Road in Sewickley Hills will be closed  indefinitely between Blackburn Road and Kevin Drive due to a landslide.

Steve Smallhoover, project manager, said the landslide is  approximately 250 feet north of Blackburn Road.

"There is no dirt on the road per se. It’s the fact that the road dropped six inches at the center line in the road," Smallhoover said.

A detour will be posted for motorists. Northbound traffic will follow Blackburn Road west, turn right onto Fern Hollow Road, and then right onto Audubon Road, which intersects with Magee Road.
