Local Fire Departments to Mark Fire Prevention Week

It is National Fire Prevention week, when fire companies in the area hold open houses, visit schools to speak to children, and try to remind everyone to be safe.

All of the fire departments in the Sewickley Valley are scheduled to visit each of the schools in the area today in honor of National Fire Prevention Week.

Fire drills are planned at Quaker Valley Midde School, though fire officials said plans to also have a fire drill at the high school have changed due to testing conflicts.

Age appropriate demonstrations and discussions will take place at the Edgeworth and Osborne elementary schools. Firefighters also plan to pay visits to Sewickley Academy, St. James School, and the Montessori School.
