Patch Pets: Barkley is Gentle and Affectionate

Barkley is visually impaired and needs a safe and caring home to call his own.

Barkley is a gentle and affectionate red Bloodhound mix who loves everyone he meets. He enjoys the company of other dogs that also are calm and relaxed.

He appears to be house- and crate-trained, and he enjoys riding in the car. He takes treats softly and is happiest when he receives affection. He enjoys taking slow walks with volunteers while sniffing to his heart’s content.

This gentleman hasn't had much luck in his 8 years. The dog warden found him as a stray without any identification and brought him to Animal Friends. Upon his arrival, shelter staff discovered that Barkley is visually impaired and truly deserves to find a safe and caring home to call his own.

A fenced yard is recommended for Barkley. Due to his impairment, it is important to keep him contained and safe while allowing him to enjoy spending time outdoors. He would also prefer to go to a home with carpeted stairs, as he is prone to slipping.

Barkley hopes to find a special family who will show him love and compassion and with whom he can share his golden years. If you think you have room in your heart and home for sweet Barkley, stop by soon.

While Animal Friends typically requests $75 for dogs and cats and $60 for rabbits, we are waiving our adoption donation for all pets age 2 and up through Dec. 31. All pets are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and medically and behaviorally evaluated. This holiday season, don’t shop. Adopt!
