Patch Pets: Meet Rusty

Rusty is a slightly timid kitty and a loyal pet.

My name is Rusty. It fits, doesn’t it?

You can easily win this friendly, 9-year-old orange tabby's heart by swinging my favorite toy - a simple piece of string. But please keep the sweeper away! Vacuum cleaners scare me!

I enjoy attention without being needy and can be a bit chatty at times. You can tell by my mellow face that I'm calm, and I will let you lift and embrace me. Give me a scratch, and I might return the favor with a slightly freckled smile. With time, I can warm up to the idea of living with other cats.

My former owner moved to an assisted-living home where she was unable to keep a slightly timid kitty. I'm used to human companionship and will make a loyal pet for anyone who isn’t looking for a high-energy, high maintenance pet.

June is national "Adopt a Cat Month," and this year, Animal Friends wants to see no more catless homes!

So from June 1-30, Animal Friends is waiving the requested adoption donation for all cats 2 and older.

The medical staff has thoroughly examines each of the cats, and they are current on all appropriate vaccinations, have been FIV and FeLeuk tested and spayed or neutered. Each of the cats is also "microchipped," or implanted with a small identification chip that can help to get him or her back home should he get lost.

Visit all of the adoptable cats, dogs and rabbits at Animal Friends, 562 Camp Horne Road in Ohio Township, or call 412-847-7002.
