Patch Poll: Favorite Holiday Flick?

What would baking cookies be without a Christmas movie playing in the background?

We liked A Christmas Story the best until they started playing it 12 times in a row every Christmas Eve. At first, we watched every single one — and we can recite the dialogue right along with the actors. But enough is enough, Ralphie, and it's time to branch out a bit.

There are some other obvious holiday favorites: Charlie Brown, and the Grinch, which always makes me cry when the Whos are in the circle at the end (and we mean the animated How the Grinch Stole Christmas and not the train wreck that Jim Carrey was in). There's Elf, of course. I love smiling; smiling's the best.

We've all seen It's a Wonderful Life about a thousand times, but that one fills up the soul every single time. Right about now is when the networks start rolling out the old gems, such as Holiday Inn and White Christmas.

The stop-action animation of Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer looks so primitive now, but I still get a catch in my throat when Rudolph comes back into the cave and Santa says, "They're gone, Rudolph. Gone to look for you." Devastating. And don't get me started on the Abominable Snowman.
