LOOK: Sewickley Light Up Night 2012

Throngs celebrate the start of the holiday season with Light Up Night in Sewickley. Patch captures the evening in a photo gallery.

Thousands of revelers packed the streets of downtown Sewickley Friday night to take part in the annual Light Up Night celebration.

Yuletide in Sewickley continues this morning with the Santa Parade at 10:30 a.m. and live entertainment. A 1-mile run and pancake breakfast will take place at 9:30 a.m., prior to the parade.

The Quaker Valley Wrestling Team and the Quaker Valley Rotary have partnered with Pressley Ridge to host a 1-Mile Holiday Fun Run at 9:30 a.m. Saturday before the Sewickley Holiday Parade. The Fun Run begins at the corner of Chestnut and Chadwick streets, and goes to the corner of Grant and Thorn streets, where they will gather for hot chocolate and bagels. The $25 registration will buy a child a warm winter hat, scarf and a pair of mittens and allows you or your child to be a part of the 1-mile fun run. For more information or to register, click here. 

Pancakes and More Breakfast from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Boy Scout Troop 243 is hosting a Pancakes and More Breakfast at Sewickley United Methodist Church, Broad and Thorn streets. Advance tickets will be sold on Light Up Night or tickets can be purchased at the door. Cost is $5 per person, and the event raises funds for the troops. Enter the door on Thorn Street. 

Santa Parade 10:30 to 11 a.m.

See marching bands, elves, and Santa and Mrs. Claus. The parade starts at the  on Grant Street and ends at the Sewickley Municipal Building.

Visit with Santa 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Michelle's Dance Center performs 11 to 11:30 a.m. in Wolcott Park

 

Sunday's events:

 Holiday Open House

The Edgeworth Garden Club is hosting a Holiday Open House from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2 at 213 Quaker Road in Edgeworth. The seasonally decorated home is filled with antique Americana ornaments and Santas, and other festive features. The event includes holiday raffle baskets and baked goods, cider and cookies. Admission is $10 donation.
