Presidents Day: What’s Open and What’s Closed

Not everyone has the day off.

Monday is Presidents Day, a federal holiday that gives some people — but not everyone — the day off.

Students at Quaker Valley, Sewickley Academy and St. James School have the day off and most likely will be sleeping in late or perhaps making a trip to Mount Rushmore to celebrate four presidents at one time.

Or not.

Here’s the scoop on what's open and closed:

  • Pennsylvania state offices, wine and spirits stores and courts: Closed. That includes PennDOT drivers license centers, which are closed through Monday.

The National Park Service also maintains a number of sites that commemorate other past presidents, including John AdamsThomas JeffersonJohn Quincy AdamsMartin Van Buren, Andrew Johnson, Ulysses Grant, James Garfield, Teddy RooseveltWilliam Taft, Herbert Hoover, Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton.
