Route 65 Improvements Continue in Avalon, Bellevue and Pittsburgh

Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in each direction, according to PennDOT.

Construction on Route 65 (Ohio River Boulevard) in Avalon and Bellevue boroughs and the City of Pittsburgh will continue this weekend, July 12-15 weather permitting.

Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in each direction around-the-clock beginning Friday, July 12, at 8 p.m. through Monday, July 15, at 6 a.m. from Elizabeth Avenue in Avalon to the McKees Rock Bridge in Pittsburgh.

Crews will be conducting milling and paving operations this weekend.  At least eight weekends will be required for paving and bridge rehabilitation.

Motorists should be prepared for changing traffic patterns. Please slow down and drive safely through the work zone. Access will be provided for all businesses along Route 65 in the construction zone.

The overall, approximately 5-mile project includes milling and resurfacing, concrete pavement reconstruction, minor structure improvements, updates to guide rail, drainage and traffic signals, curb improvements and other minor work in Emsworth, Ben Avon, Avalon and Bellevue boroughs and the City of Pittsburgh. The prime contractor is Lane Construction Corporation of Pittsburgh. Overall work will conclude in late 2013.
