Harvest Time: Sewickley's Highly-Anticipated Resale Events are Here

Day on the Lawn and other sales mark an annual Sewickley tradition as part of Harvest Festival.

In this day and age of recycle and reuse there is a resurgence in what is, quite simply, buying other people’s stuff.

Whether you're looking for a sale on a train table for a child who will use it for a year or two or a 100-year-old farm table for family dinners, you'll find something for everyone in today during the with the most highly-anticipated resale events here.

One of the area’s largest sales is the 24th annual . Volunteers at the were busy all day Thursday setting up for one of the biggest sales in town.

The sale runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and has small items like toys and home goods all the way up to jewelry and collectables. There are activities for children and food available at the church, 414 Grant St. The event is operated by the Presbyterian Women’s Association with proceeds benefiting mission work.

- The church is having its annual flea market at 801 Beaver St, Sewickley. If you're looking for a special toy or simply looking to browse, you won't have to go too far to catch the sale. Come early. The sale runs from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and who knows what you may find.

-  Pick up great reads at great prices at the Annual Harvest Festival book sale in the . There are loads of titles to choose from, which means a lot of happy readers. The sale runs 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. is "Fill a Bag Day," where a grocery bag full of books can be had for a mere $5. Friends of the Library sponsor the sale with proceeds going to the library.

- The 10th anniversary of this sale is sure to mean you'll find some . Get there when it starts at 8 a.m. to get the best dibs on what is rumored to be the best collection around. ends at 3 p.m. Saturday.

After your pocketbook has had time to recover, save the date of Sept. 23.

- Steeped in “treasure tales” are first-hand accounts of designer shoes and handbags to be had at this can’t-miss sale. Folks line up early to get in the Means Alumni Gym at the to sort through literally thousands of designer and vintage as well as gently-used clothing. Also included are DVDs, sporting equipment, CDs and books.

The sale raises money for the school, and proceeds last year reached more than $92,000. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23 and Friday, Sept. 24; and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25 and Friday, Sept. 26. The final day of the sale is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27.
