Sound Off: Large Sign Goes Up in High School Neighborhood

A resident made us aware of a large sign erected Thursday in a Leetsdale neighborhood near the high school.

Sitting about 5 foot high, the sign at the corner of Beaver Street and Winding Road reads "Welcome to a Neighborhood Held Hostage and Tortured by the QV School Board."

District offices are closed through July 12 so officials could not immediately be reached for comment.

Beth Carroll, spokeswoman of the Concerned Taxpayers of Quaker Valley, said the group did not pay for the sign or come up with its verbage, but has no objection to the sign being posted.

CTQV is a group of residents who have been outspoken about the district's plan to purchase nearby homes for a potential bus turnaround and parking lot at the high school.
