Accomplishment: Most high school seniors are ecstatic to receive an acceptance letter to their college of choice. Erin Keller, however, received more than just a letter with good news during her senior year at -- she also received a scholarship.

"When I got the letter in the mail saying that I got into Denison University, I also was awarded the Denison Alumni Scholarship," she said.

This scholarship is based on leadership, personal merit as well as academic achievement and covers between one-fourth and one-third of a student's tuition.

"I didn't apply for it; I actually didn't even know about it," Keller said.

Fortunately, Keller was doing all the right things and was the perfect candidate for the scholarship. She played on the lacrosse team, was part of her church's senior high ministry, and earned stellar grades.

Despite her achievements, Keller modestly downplayed the scholarship, saying, "It isn't really all that special."

She is more focused on continuing her success than bragging about it.

"I just made it through my first week of college!" she exclaimed.

With Keller's positive outlook, it's no wonder she was honored with a scholarship.
