A German Tradition: Annual Sewickley Oktoberfest Begins Tonight

It's time for brats, sauerkraut, beer and polka.

There is a little something for everyone to enjoy at the second annual Sewickley Oktoberfest, which kicks off at 5 p.m. tonight.

Saturday, Oct. 5 brings the inaugural Kids Oktoberfest, which runs from 1 to 4 and the second Das Dachshund Dash, a German Oktoberfest tradition, at 3 p.m.

All ages can enjoy Oktoberfest contests, from the chicken dance and polka contests to a beer stein holding competition and pretzel toss.

Food and drinks will be available for purchases, and for those 21 and older, there will be plenty of Great Lakes Oktoberfest and Spaten Lager.

Admission is $10. The event is a fundraiser for Village Green Partners, dedicated to promoting Sewickley.
