Sunflower Sprouts Children's Consignment Sale

Sunflower Sprouts, a locally owned children’s consignment sale, will be holding its’ fall event September 29 – October 6 at the Shoppes at Northway Mall. (Please visit our website for complete list of dates and times) Featured during this fall sale will be all fall/winter clothing for infants and children to size 14 and maternity clothes.  There will also be a huge array of baby equipment, nursery décor, toys, books, games, sports equipment and play equipment.  The sale is owned and operated by two local moms, Lesley Bruns of Seven Fields and Jennifer Hill of Volant.

This will be the fourth sale held in this location, remaining convenient to a very loyal North Hills shopping base.  The company expects to fill every bit of over 13,000 square feet of shopping space with kid-related and wallet-friendly items.  The sale will also continue to offer six public shopping days, the longest in the area.  “Our customers love being able to shop over two weekends” the company has announced.  “By stretching the sales days out, we give our consignors the best chance to sell their items to the most people”, says co-owner Jennifer Hill.  “We will run full-on during the first weekend, take a break to reorganize, arrange and condense, and then come back for the second half of the sale ready to offer many items at half-price, as their owners have designated.”

Sunflower Sprouts has quickly gained a reputation for being a sale where quality items can be found for every stage of motherhood.  Whether you are expecting, and needing maternity clothing and baby equipment, transitioning to toddlerhood, or looking for the video games and chapter books of elementary school, their sale can help you.  Grandmas also love to shop the sale, to pick up toys and games for their own toy boxes, or just to have an extra set of clothes on hand for mealtime spills.

The owners are excited to see how fast their business has grown since launching three years ago.  “At our first sale, we had sixty-seven consignors and just a handful of volunteers, now we will have over 230 consignors and more than 200 volunteers shifts filled,” says Ms. Bruns.  The duo credits the success of the sale with the great need to help parents raise children economically.

New this year, Sunflower Sprouts has added an Early Bird public shopping time.  It will be Friday, September 28 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and a $10 entrance fee per person will be charged at the door.  “If you want to avoid the very long lines on Saturday morning when we officially open to the public, then this early bird shopping time was made just for you!,” says Mrs. Hill.   “It is your chance to find those large items that sell quickest like toddler beds, double strollers and ride-on toys.”  “We will have every register line open during this time to minimize wait times”, adds Ms. Bruns.

As is typical of consignment sales, volunteers and consignors receive special designated shopping times prior to the public opening.  There is also a New Moms and Grandmothers presale event that requires registration through the company website www.sunflowersprouts.org to attend.  Most everything to prepare for the sale from a consignor’s viewpoint is done online.  Consignors register to sell their items, enter all tagging information and print their tags for items directly from the website.  After dropping their items off, a consignor can then monitor her sales each night to see what has been sold.  At the end of the sale, consignors also have the choice of picking up unsold items, or donating them to a local charity.  Garments of Love is a non-profit ministry sponsored by the New Brighton Christian Assembly Church and offers free clothing and family-related items to families in need.
