Wings of Defeat

For the second year in a row, the Academy partners with Silk Screen to present three films throughout the month of January. Each film will be followed by a discussion on how the ideas presented in the documentaries challenge stereotypes. This week's film is Wings of Defeat. Here is a description of the film: In Japan, WWII Kamikaze pilots are still revered as self-sacrificing heroes. Internationally, they remain a potent symbol of fanaticism. More than 60 years later, surviving Kamikaze survivors tell us about the horrors of the cockpit, their dramatic survival, and the survivor's guilt still haunting them. (Parental discretion.)
